I thoroughly enjoyed this chapter! First off, I was relieved to hear that the two crew were off and away, and I was so amused at John's musing in the beginning about staying young as long as one learned something every day; especially what he had "learned." I laughed out loud as I listened.

I wondered how he was going to take care of getting the boat ready for the hurricane by himself and it occurred to me that Ericka might reappear, and I'm glad she did. You are injecting a mystery, not for the first time, of why and how she came to be on the island. Can't wait to find out what happened to her to bring her there. Can't wait to see what happens next in regard to the hurricane either! The story is becoming more and more captivating.
